Walk the Cobb
The Cobb is Lyme’s most famous landmark, appearing in films such as Wonka, Persuasion and Ammonite. Walk along the harbour wall, watch the fishing boats come and go and enjoy the views across Lyme Bay. It’s also a wonderful place to watch the sunset.
Hunt for fossils
This stretch of coastline is famous for its fossils, and you don’t need to be an expert to enjoy looking. Head down to the beaches around Lyme and Charmouth, keep your eyes open and see what you can discover.
Explore the town
Wander through Lyme’s charming streets and discover independent shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants. Take a break in Langmoor Gardens and enjoy the wonderful views over the bay.
Walk the coast
The South West Coast Path passes through Lyme Regis, opening up some spectacular walks in both directions. Head east towards Charmouth and Golden Cap, or west towards the dramatic Undercliffs and Seaton. There are walks for gentle strollers and serious walkers alike.

Other Activities
One of our favourite things about staying at Coombehayes is that you don’t always need the car. A beautiful walk follows the River Lym from the farm into Lyme Regis, taking around 45 minutes. Leave the car behind, enjoy the countryside and arrive in town ready for coffee, lunch or a day beside the sea.
On the water
Get out onto the Jurassic Coast by kayak, paddleboard or boat. Try paddleboarding with Boylos in Lyme Regis, kayaking from Marine Parade or take a RIB trip along the coast. For keen anglers, deep-sea fishing trips are also available from Lyme Regis.
Eat & drink
The area around Lyme Regis is packed with wonderful places to eat. Enjoy a seaside lunch, fresh seafood, a traditional pub supper or a cream tea. And don’t miss River Cottage, the famous home of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.
Days out
Use Coombehayes as your base for exploring the wider West Country. Visit Bridport and West Bay, head to Seaton and Beer, explore Abbotsbury or spend a day further along the coast. There’s plenty to discover beyond Lyme.
